Acting Fund Board Elections
Description: The following brief assignment is for the course Nonprofit Management. The assignment was to pretend I was Founder (and Executive Director) of this pretend fund and had to list the number and types of people that I chosen to proposed for election to the Board.
Everyone tends to believe that acting is a glamorous profession and an easy way to make money, but they are mistaken. Actors do go through tough jobless periods and even aged actors who have been in the profession for years may find themselves struggling. As founder and executive director of this organization the people I choose for the board need to be carefully thought through. This is an important cause and each person needs to deliver different assets to the organization. The number of people I want to elect for the committee is five and that is because I want it to contain a variety of different people. I don’t believe that all the committee members need to be directly related to the entertainment industry because it is going to take a lot more than just successful actors and actresses’ to get this project going places. Widely different types of health care needs to be provided and for this we need skilled and knowledgeable people in that area. The following are the seven people I have chosen to be committee board members for this organization.
1. Jodie Foster
Jodie Foster is an accomplished and widely successful actress. She has been in the entertainment industry for many years and obviously knows it well. I believe she is needed in the committee to offer advise, and help out struggling actors with their transitions. As a child actor become veteran actress, she can offer information about the industry, advise on mobility, and share her own experiences.
2. Angelia Jolie
Angelia has come from a father who has also been in the acting industry but has managed to make a new for herself and is known as one of the greatest actress of this time. She has had her share of up’s and down’s in the industry and can offer her insight. Angelia is also an intelligent woman who shows great interest in those less fortunate.
3. Bruce McPherson
Bruce McPherson is the president and CEO of the Alliance for Advancing Nonprofit Healthcare organization. This organization provides housing, nurses, and healthcare plans for those in need. Having the president of this organization join the committee would be an amazing asset because of his connections to other nonprofit health providers.
4. Dr. David Himmelstein
David Himmelstein is known as an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He also happens to be the co-founder of Physicians for a National Health Program and is the leader in the movement for universal health care. He has connections with other doctors who can provide assistance with HIV problems, Rehab, Physical therapy, etc.
5. Opera Winfrey
Opera is an amazing woman who while not being directly connected to the acting industry, she is no stranger to the struggles of trying to follow one’s dreams. She has a great deal of connections both with nonprofit organizations and the entertainment industry, which is why I elect this person as Board President.
